Have you landed here feeling overwhelmed, lost, alone, or simply concerned for your child or adolescent? Perhaps you are feeling disconnected from them, wishing communication was better. Or you have noticed some troubling changes such as isolation, loss of interest, irritability, excessive crying, fluctuations in sleep and diet, or difficulty verbalizing how they feel. Or maybe, like so many others in this pandemic, your family is struggling to adjust to your new reality.
Whether your teen is struggling with peer relationships, body image, grief and loss, self-esteem, school stressors, family dynamics, or cross-cultural issues, I am here to help.
It was through my own personal experience of crisis at a young age that led me to therapy, and in turn, to become a therapist. I know what it’s like to be on the other side, and I know how to reach kids. Always with a compassionate approach, I see their uniqueness and strengths and work collaboratively with them and you to find what works best.
My passion for working with families began young, aided by my observant nature and insatiable curiosity about the human condition. And I followed my early passion for psychology by nannying for over 20 years, serving as a therapeutic mentor, and teaching yoga and meditation on the East Coast, where I’m from. In the last 10 years I’ve dedicated my time to working in underserved community clinics and schools, conducting assessments for Alameda County, and serving on a social justice family law project at the San Francisco Superior Court, helping families navigate complex dynamics related to divorce.
As a South Asian American, and child of immigrant parents, I bring cultural sensitivity around the nuanced layers of this experience and what it’s like for both parents and their children. I have a strong commitment to social justice issues and cultural competency, and I particularly enjoy working with first generation families.
I know that you are here because you want to see your child or teen succeed and are dedicated to helping them.
