Chris Schulz, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California (#145746)
At times in life we can feel so overwhelmed by internal and/or external stressors it can be difficult to stay connected and hopeful. It can feel daunting to even know where to begin making a change. Rest assured, there is hope, you are not alone and change, while difficult, is entirely possible.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with 5 years of experience working with teens, adults, and older adults. I have extensive experience helping clients navigate trauma, relationship conflict, depression, mood disorders, anxiety, and life transitions.
I am passionate about supporting individuals in developing a stronger sense of identity, purpose, self-worth, and connection. I understand how broader cultural contexts, intergenerational patterns, systemic influences, and personal experiences can intersect to shape mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. Through a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic relationship, I help clients identify meaningful goals and cultivate lasting change.
Some specific modalities I draw from when working with clients include:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Person centered
- Trauma informed
- Mindfulness based
Throughout my career, I have provided mental health services across a range of settings, including residential and treatment programs, community-based nonprofit organizations, and outpatient private practice. These experiences have allowed me to support individuals from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances, working with clients across the lifespan—from adolescents navigating formative years to older adults facing later-life challenges.
Populations and areas of focus for my work include:
- Depression and Bipolar disorders
- Anxiety disorders
- Relationship conflict
- Trauma/PTSD
- Grief and loss

My work is grounded in social justice, multicultural humility, and decolonial perspectives, recognizing the importance of honoring clients’ identities, communities, and lived experiences. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, trauma informed and committed to creating an inclusive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore challenges openly, build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and move toward greater healing and fulfillment.
