Geralyn Gendron, LMFT

Healing begins when you get honest with yourself about what’s not working in your life. But it can be difficult to be deeply honest with people who know you– or think they do. Often, their view of who you are, as well as their expectations and agendas, will influence what you feel safe to share. And that, in turn, makes it difficult to fully understand yourself and know what you truly want and need. This is where the magic of therapy comes in: it offers a space for an honest conversation between you and another human being–one where you can finally be real with yourself.

We all need to feel felt—to be seen and understood by someone who is truly present and attuned to our deepest longings and fears. We yearn for a safe space where we can speak openly about what we’ve experienced and embrace all parts of ourselves. This kind of authentic connection helps us make sense of why we think, feel, and act the way we do. It also reveals the deeper truth of who we are beneath the stories and defenses–so we can fully show up in our lives and experience real, lasting change.

It’s an honor for me to hold a space where you feel welcome, seen, and worthy of deeply nourishing attention. I bring over 30 years of experience guiding people on their path of personal transformation, and I’ll walk beside you as you discover hidden strengths and empower yourself to meet life’s challenges head-on.

Licensed since 1995, I work with people ranging in age from 16 to 96 who are looking for help with:

While my approach is person-centered and collaborative, clients often tell me they are grateful to work with a therapist who can also be direct—sometimes even fierce—in the service of their growth. I am a devoted meditator and encourage those who are interested to develop their own practice. Having lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years, I speak fluent “trippy-talk” and am intimately familiar with many spiritual teachings—although I always take a grounded, practical approach to mental health.

My favorite modalities include:

  • Narrative
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Positive Psychology
  • Internal Family Systems
  • Parts work, voice dialog
  • Integrative/Holistic
    ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

My background in somatic therapies (I was a massage therapist and yoga teacher for many years) deeply informs how I work with clients. I’m also a published author and professional editor with a 20-year track record in publishing—and yes, I’ve  been to Burning Man (several times). I’m a self-proclaimed sleep specialist who triumphed over 5 years of severe insomnia, and a childless Continuum Parenting coach.

I have worked with a wide range of people—from Silicon Valley CEOs to moms who’ve lost custody of their children due to drug addiction. I especially enjoy working with young people, artists, athletes, dancers, and writers, and hold a special place in my heart for those who’ve lost capacity due to accident or injury. I also love weaving bio-hacking principles into therapy for those who want to optimize physical vitality as part of their mental health journey.

It is possible to transform emotional pain, confusion, and self-doubt into a deep sense of being at home in your own skin. There is a calm, wise essence within you that knows the way to healing. Let’s explore this extraordinary—and beautifully ordinary—territory together.
