Shannon Smoot, LPCC

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of California (#17567)

Therapy can be a place of self-discovery and empowerment. A place to write and rewrite your story as often as you need to feel more connected, alive, and free. A place to explore and unlearn patterns that might not be serving you. A place to learn how to move and be in the world with the things you are still working to heal from. And a place to do so with someone who is here to listen with deep care, understanding, and curiosity. Whether you are exploring your gender or sexuality, learning to cope with anxiety, navigating the terrain of depression or looking to deepen your relationships with others, you can experience clarity, joy, healing and transformation in life.

I am a Queer, Non-Binary, Social Justice rooted Therapist offering trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered therapy for individuals, couples, and families. I am grounded in an intersectional and mind-body framework, which honors, values, and explores the dynamic relationship between your identities, lived experiences, and the systemic issues or pressures at play in your life. While I come from a more integrative model of therapy, incorporating diverse modalities, it’s of the utmost importance to me to remain flexible and collaborate in tailoring therapy to your specific needs. Some of the ways I work with people include:

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
  • Client-Centered Therapy
  • Trauma-Informed
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Somatic
  • Strengths based approaches
  • Arts/expressive

Over the past 10 years, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse youth, adults, and families as both a Clinical Counselor & School Counselor. I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, and a bit of humor. In an affirming and inclusive safe space, we will unpack & process presenting difficulties at a pace that feels meaningful and comfortable for you. We will build on your strengths & explore supports that promote resilience so that you are empowered to live a life that feels authentically yours. Taking the first step is always the hardest AND the one that can lead to meaningful shifts in life. I invite you in to see what’s on the other side.
